Where the river meets the sea you’ll find a habitat that changes dramatically through the influence of the tides. Inhabitants of these areas are often more marine in origin than freshwater and need a quality marine salt added to the water to remain in good health. As they have adapted to massive fluctuations, some of these species can be kept in hard, alkaline water for a limited time or are equally happy in full strength seawater.
