Supporting Trunks Across the Thames and Thames Hospice

Maidenhead Aquatics is proud to support Trunks Across the Thames, a major public art trail coming to Windsor and Slough in summer 2026.
The event will bring a herd of beautifully designed elephant sculptures to streets, parks and public spaces across the area, creating a family-friendly trail that encourages people to explore the region while raising funds for an important local charity.
The trail is organised by Thames Hospice in partnership with Wild in Art, a global producer of public art trails that raise awareness and funds for charitable causes.

Supporting Thames Hospice
Thames Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care for people living with life-limiting illnesses across East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire.
Their services support patients both at the hospice and in their own homes. Care is focused on improving quality of life and providing physical, emotional and practical support for both patients and their families.
Hospice care is provided free of charge to those who need it, but the organisation relies heavily on donations and fundraising to continue delivering these vital services.

Why this cause matters to us
Our support for Trunks Across the Thames is rooted in a deeply personal experience.
In 2025, the team at Thames Hospice cared for the mother of one of our senior partners during an incredibly difficult time for his family. The compassion, dignity and professionalism shown by the hospice team made an enormous difference during those final months.
This sponsorship is our way of recognising the outstanding care that Thames Hospice provides every day to families across our region. It is also a way for our wider company to help ensure that this care continues to be available to others who need it.
By supporting this event, we hope to contribute to the hospice’s vital fundraising efforts and to help raise awareness of the important work they do.

Why Maidenhead Aquatics is getting involved
Maidenhead Aquatics has always been a community-focused business.
Many of our stores serve the same local communities supported by Thames Hospice. Our customers, colleagues and partners all live and work in the areas where the hospice provides care.
Supporting Trunks Across the Thames allows us to give something back to those communities.
As a business centred around aquatic life, ponds and nature, we also believe strongly in the positive impact that nature and outdoor experiences can have on wellbeing. Events like this bring people together, encourage families to explore local areas and help support an important cause at the same time.

About the Trunks Across the Thames Trail
Trunks Across the Thames will run for around nine weeks during summer 2026.
During the trail, large elephant sculptures designed by professional artists will appear across Windsor and Slough, creating a colourful outdoor art experience for residents and visitors alike. Smaller sculptures designed by schools and community groups will also form part of the trail.
Visitors will be able to follow the trail using a dedicated app, discover each sculpture and learn about the artists behind them.
At the end of the event, many of the sculptures will be auctioned to raise funds for Thames Hospice.

Visit the Trail
The trail will take place during the summer 2026 across Windsor and Slough.
It is free to take part and is designed for families, local residents and visitors to enjoy together.
We encourage our customers to visit the trail, explore the sculptures and support the fundraising efforts for Thames Hospice.

Our Contribution
As part of our sponsorship of Trunks Across the Thames, Maidenhead Aquatics is supporting the event and helping to raise awareness of the hospice’s work.
We are also offering visitors a small reward through the trail app. Participants will be able to visit any Maidenhead Aquatics store and enjoy feeding the fish using complimentary fish food as part of the trail experience.
This is our way of helping families connect with nature while taking part in the trail.
