It seems that ponds have gradually been disappearing from gardens all over the country, replaced by acres of lookalike DIY decking and bland expanses of lawn. But gardening guru Charlie Dimmock is on a mission to turn back the clock and bring traditional ponds back into the great British garden, both for their aesthetic appeal and for their importance to wildlife and the surrounding natural habitats.

In an hour-long episode of BBC2’s “Great British Garden Revival”  appearing at 7pm on Thursday 9th January 2014, Charlie also explores  a new style of water gardening - the swimming pond – and finds out how a community in East Yorkshire has come together to revive their village pond.

The lakes and ponds of Nottingham Trent University mark the start of her own revival, and Charlie gives an invaluable step-by-step guide to building a wildlife pond and bog garden of your own, taking you from the initial design stage all the way through to planting.
