Tank of the Month - January 2019
Each month we showcase an aquarium from one of our 160 stores across the UK to excite and inspire you with your own aquarium designs. This month, we have chosen this beautiful 500 Litre Marine Aquarium from Reefkeeper Rugby.
This tank was set up in May 2018. The water, rock and system were taken from the managers home set up. The aquascaping and placing of corals took 4 hours. Fish were slowly introduced over a few weeks with the assistance of ATM Colony (a nitrifying bacteria that speeds up the cycle of a new tank). In September 2018 the tank was revamped and new stock and aquascaping were introduced, however, it is still running on the same system. This aquarium features a 10 hour a daylighting program and no water changes due to the Triton method.
Aquarium Maintenance
This stunning marine aquarium is a 500 litre D-D Reef Pro tank. The main tank is lit with 3 A.I. Hydra 52 LED's with 9 hours 30 minutes total illumination and a 30 minute ramp up and down. White LED's peaking at 21%, Blues and UV peaking at just over 140%. The filtration is a Deltec 1000i skimmer and a refugium that has an AI Prime over the top running 24 hours a day. The system runs a Jebao dosing pump that doses Triton Elements 4 times a day. As this tank runs on Triton Elements, no waters changes are required as the elements contain Calcium, Magnesium, Alkalinity and lots of other trace elements that corals require to grow. This ensures maximum stability as there are no swings in water parameters, apart from testing the tank and cleaning the glass this tank runs by itself.
