After a period of wintry weather, it’s nice to look to the tropical sections inside whilst the pond sections slumber under a blanket of snow.


Corydoras catfish are always a good choice for community aquaria and combine many traits that appeal to keepers of all levels. These Corydoras sodalis at our Cirencester store don’t always arrive properly identified but that’s part of the fun of collecting these fish. Many species of Corys await proper scientific description but that won’t change how they’re kept.

The Large-polyped stony corals in the genus Euphyllia are some of the best choices for the reef aquarium - colourful, easily propagated and hardy in a well maintained set up. This gorgeous selection of species can be found at our Cwmbran store.


It’s a shame that some of the biggest snakeheads to enter the trade have made an impact that overshadows their smaller relatives. Species like this Rainbow snakehead (Channa bleheri) at our Summerhill store are great fish to keep and are some of the most glamorous choices for temperate aquaria. They may look ferocious when breathing heavily, but this is only because they don’t have conventional gill covers like most other fish. This Snowflake moray (Echidna nebulosa) at our Liverpool store seems quite charming and is one of the best eels for the marine aquarium.
