How long have you been a Maidenhead Aquatics team member?

I've been part of the Maidenhead Aquatics team for 4 years.

How long have you been keeping fish?

I've been keeping fish for over 20 years.

What was your first aquarium and what fish did you keep in it?

My first aquarium was a 4x2x2 D-D Reef setup. It featured a range of soft and hard corals, along with a lovely mix of marine fish.

What species do you most enjoy keeping and why?

I really enjoy keeping marine species because of their incredible colors and the vast variety available.

What pearl of wisdom would you give to first-time fishkeepers?

My advice would be to go for the largest tank you can comfortably manage. Larger tanks are much easier to maintain, and you can better manage water parameters.

What would be your dream aquarium?

My dream setup wouldn’t be a traditional aquarium, but rather a large swim pond with native plants and fish.

What’s your favourite aspect of working at Maidenhead Aquatics?

I love the constant opportunity to expand my knowledge of fish and plants.

What questions do customers ask you most often?

I often get asked what fish can be kept with guppies.

What’s your secret fishkeeping "top tip"?

Keep things simple! Overcomplicating your setup makes it more technical and less enjoyable.

How many aquariums do you currently keep at home, and what are these?

At the moment, I don’t have any aquariums at home, but I hope to set up a large swim pond in the future.

What’s the most unique species you’ve ever cared for at Maidenhead Aquatics?

The Unicorn Poop Corydoras (C005 Albertini Corydoras) is definitely one of the most unique species I’ve cared for.

What is it that first got you hooked on fishkeeping?

I was captivated by the beautiful and majestic aquariums my uncle had when I was young. It sparked my passion for fishkeeping.

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve learned since joining Maidenhead Aquatics?

The diversity of fish and invertebrate species in the world is astounding! I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of the specific needs of different species to thrive.
