Ceratopteris thalicroides - known as Water Sprite - is a hardy species, suited to most aquariums where there is strong illumination. In the wild, juvenile plants are free floating, whilst more mature specimens become rooted. This is a fast growing plant which will help to take up any excess nutrients, in turn preventing algae growth. Shorter specimens have smaller, broader, multi-lobed fronds, whereas plants over 15cm (5.9") in height produce deeply pinnated fronds. Propagation is by adventitious plantlets on older leaves.
