With its clean, modern design and powerful performance, the Fluval Flex 2.0 is ideal for beginners and experienced hobbyists alike.

Key Highlights:

1. Customizable RGB + White LED Lighting

The Fluval Flex 2.0 features adjustable RGB + White LED lights with a remote control, offering over 80 colour blends and dynamic effects. This not only enhances the aquarium’s visual appeal, but also creates the right light conditions for fish and plants. A customizable lighting system means you can simulate natural day/night cycles, reduce stress for your fish, and highlight the colours of your aquascape beautifully.

Why it’s good: It gives hobbyists creative freedom, promotes plant growth with a balanced 6500–7000K spectrum, and helps maintain a natural, healthy environment for aquatic life.

2. Advanced Integrated 3-Stage Filtration

Behind the sleek curved design is a powerful yet discreet filtration system. It combines mechanical filtration (foam block to trap debris), chemical filtration (activated carbon to remove toxins and odours), and biological filtration (BioMax or Bio-FX for beneficial bacteria growth). The modular media baskets allow easy customization based on your aquarium’s needs.

Why it’s good: Ensures consistently clean and clear water, supports a balanced nitrogen cycle, and allows aquarists to adapt the filter setup for fish, plants, or aquascaping preferences.

3. User-Friendly Design with Smart Upgrades

The new Flex 2.0 comes with practical cover enhancements, such as a feeding port for quick mealtimes, an integrated heater channel for even heat distribution, and a power cord channel to keep wires neat. The dual adjustable output nozzles allow you to fine-tune water flow to simulate natural currents or protect delicate plants and fish. Plus, the whisper-quiet pump ensures minimal disturbance.

Why it’s good: These thoughtful upgrades make maintenance easier, reduce stress for fish, keep the aquarium tidy, and ensure a quiet, enjoyable experience for the aquarist.

How easy it is to set up an aquarium?

Place the tank on a sturdy, level surface away from direct sunlight and drafts. Rinse the tank, substrate (like gravel or sand), and ornaments with water—don’t use soap. Plug in and test all equipment such as heaters, filters, air pumps, and lights. Remember to make sure the heaters are fully submerged before turning them on.

Spread the substrate evenly at the bottom of the tank. Arrange your decorations—rocks, plants, and ornaments—how you like. When filling the tank, add a water conditioner to remove chlorine and other chemicals from the tap water, then gently pour the water to avoid disturbing the substrate.

Add a bacterial supplement to help cycle your tank, it can take a couple of weeks for the environment to become safe enough for your fish to thrive in. Make sure to regularly use test kits to monitor ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels.

Maintain your aquarium by doing weekly water changes of 10-20%, cleaning or replacing filter media as needed, and regularly checking water quality and fish health.

What else should be brought?

  • Tap water conditioner - eliminates chlorine and chloramines from tap water, making it safe for fish.
  • Test kits - monitor key water parameters such as pH, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels to ensure the best water conditions.
  • A thermometer is crucial for keeping track of water temperature, especially for tropical fish.
  • fish food that is suitable for your fish species, along with occasional treats.
  • A net is important for safely transferring fish without causing stress or injury.
  • A gravel vacuum or siphon will help clean the substrate and perform water changes.
  • If you wish to have a tropical tank, please ensure you have a heater. Our heater range can be found at the following link: https://www.fishkeeper.co.uk/aquarium-products/heaters
  • Decorations (aquarium background, live or artificial plants, rocks, wood, ornaments) to create hiding spots and a more natural environment.
  • Air pump and air stone can help improve oxygenation and water circulation.
  • Extra filter media on hand to replace as needed when it becomes dirty or worn out.
  • Dedicated bucket for aquarium tasks to avoid contamination from household cleaning products
  • Tweezers or forceps are handy for planting live plants or rearranging decorations.
  • A quarantine tank is valuable for isolating new or sick fish to prevent disease spread.
  • Fish medication for common issues like ich or fin rot.

What species of fish will be suitable for this aquarium?

This aquarium is well-suited for cooler water fish, making it an excellent choice for species like minnows and danios. Minnows such as the vibrant White Cloud Mountain Minnows or the active Rosy Red Minnows are ideal for this setup. They are hardy and adapt well to cooler water temperatures. Similarly, danios, including popular Zebra Danios, are known for their lively behaviour and adaptability to cooler conditions, adding dynamic movement to your tank.

If you're interested in a wider variety of fish, adding a heater to the aquarium allows you to explore species that prefer warmer water. With a heater, you can consider tropical fish such as tetras, guppies, and platies, which thrive in slightly warmer temperatures typically ranging from 22-26°C.

If you are unsure what fish you would like, then pop into your local store or visit our comprehensive databank for detailed information on our wide variety of fish species.
