The ideal candidate will:

• Have a strong interest in aquatics and fishkeeping, with previous experience preferred but not essential

• Be enthusiastic about the hobby and committed to promoting responsible fishkeeping practices

• Be self-motivated, organised, and able to manage their time effectively

• Have a positive, proactive attitude and take pride in their work

• Be approachable, friendly, and confident when interacting with customers

• Be willing to learn and continuously develop their knowledge of aquatic livestock and products

• Work well both independently and as part of a close-knit, supportive team

• Be practical, hands-on, and comfortable working in a physically active role

What Does the Role Involve?

As a Sales Assistant, you will play a key role in the daily running of the store. Your responsibilities will include:

Livestock Care & Store Maintenance

• Assisting in the care and maintenance of a wide variety of aquatic livestock, including fish and plants

• Monitoring water quality and ensuring tanks are clean, healthy, and well-maintained

• Feeding livestock and observing for health and well-being

• Maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the store

Customer Service & Sales

• Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all customers

• Offering knowledgeable advice tailored to customers of all experience levels

• Helping customers select appropriate livestock and equipment responsibly

• Promoting best practices in fishkeeping and ensuring livestock is sold responsibly

• Processing transactions accurately and efficiently

Retail & Merchandising

• Replenishing stock and ensuring shelves are fully stocked and well presented

• Pricing products correctly and maintaining clear, accurate displays

• Assisting with deliveries and organising stock in storage areas

• Supporting promotional displays and seasonal merchandising

Teamwork & Store Environment

• Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive team environment

• Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the store

• Contributing to a workplace culture that is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and customer-focused
