We are looking for a motivated, friendly Fishkeeper to join our team. This customer-facing position requires a positive attitude, good people skills, and a practical approach. The role involves physical work, such as cleaning and maintaining fish tanks.

Hours & Location

Part-time Position including weekends at Fishkeeper Melville-Edinburgh

Key Responsibilities

• Assisting customers with advice on fish health, compatibility, and system requirements.
• Supporting the wider team with general shop duties as required.
• Day-to-day care and maintenance of aquatics systems, including feeding, monitoring, and tank husbandry.
• Monitoring water quality, carrying out tests, and maintaining stable water chemistry

Essential Requirements

Strong knowledge of fishkeeping: Understanding of freshwater and/ or marine aquariums and aquatic plants, awareness of basic fish care, tank maintenance and water quality principles.

Excellent Communication Skills: Friendly, approachable and able to give clear, helpful advice to customers. Comfortable explaining products and guiding hobbyists.

Attention to detail: Able to follow feeding, cleaning and care routines accurately.

Team Player with a Positive Attitude: Working well with colleagues to maintain a tidy, welcoming shop environment. Being reliable, punctual and proactive helping where needed.

Desirable but not essential Skills

Previous experience in retail environments, public aquariums, or similar settings.
