Fishkeeper Fry 2025 week 7 and week 8
For the majority of our schools, the Fishkeeper Fry programme is now over. Take a look at what they have been doing in weeks 7 and 8.
Figure one: Marlpool Junior School’s tank
Like every week, the students had the opportunity of adding new fish. In week 7 they got to add 6 neon, Glowlight or black neon tetras. For those schools who have decided to keep their tank in the school after the programme, they got to collect 3 dwarf-sucking catfish.

Week 7s topics were about food. Schools learnt about the different types of diet that fish can have. They also learnt about the different lengths of guts and why this affects which diets animals can have.

Tappers showed the students the different types of food that can be fed to fish depending on which part of the tank they live in and which diet they have.

Many schools have continued to opt to keep their tank in the school now that the programme is over, allowing the students to continue the role and responsibility of fishkeeping.
